Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community offered condolences for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
