Previous British Broadcasting Corporation Advisers Face MPs' Questioning After Claims of Prejudice in Leaked Memo
We open with questions from Conservative MP the panel's head, who leads the panel.
She commences by offering context to the leaked memorandum written by Michael Prescott and released in the Telegraph.
"I don't want the BBC tilting in any particular direction, I simply desire it neutral, fair and just," he declares.
When asked whether he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, he answers: "Absolutely not. Let's be clear, a great deal the British Broadcasting Corporation does is exceptional - encompassing factual and entertainment shows."
But he adds: "There remains real work that needs to be done at the BBC."
A further ex-adviser BBC consultant questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, remarks she views the BBC extremely earnestly and that it has a "ongoing system and vigorous discourse" on dynamic and complex subjects.
"Did the BBC prepared to have a proper dialogue and debate and take action?" she reflects. "As I see it, yes they were."
