Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
