Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry game that players explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for delighting in violence and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two producers whose work have represented all of those elements.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game property, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a new backdrop and ensemble in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady trust and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology program. Every title is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the nature of society through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and introduce our mutual irreverent, daring approach to the television.”
A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
