FC Barcelona to Host Inaugural Game at Renovated Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years following their departure for construction to commence.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees can be present based on approved permits. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch earlier this month. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from Uefa to host the next European match versus the German side next month at the stadium. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
