Gus Atkinson further complicated England's injury problems upon exiting the field on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test in the Ashes series.
The pace bowler felt a problem in his hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over on Saturday.
Team management indicated the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and would spend time away from the action for further assessment "in the coming hours".
The final Test of the tour at the SCG starts on Sunday, 4 January.
