The ex-Aussie cricket star Damien Martyn has been admitted to hospital and placed in an induced coma following a diagnosis of meningitis.
Critical Health Battle Revealed
Martyn, aged 54, “is facing the battle of his life”, according to former AFL player Brad Hardie, who disclosed Martyn’s health situation this week.
“Let’s hope he can recover because it’s extremely grave,” Hardie said.
His condition remains serious after becoming unwell on Boxing Day and being taken to a hospital in Queensland, as per sources close to the family.

An Illustrious Cricket Career
Widely regarded as one of Australia’s most talented batters, playing 67 Tests and amassing 4,406 Test runs for an average of 46.37 from 1992 and 2006.
The right-hand batter’s unbeaten 88 in the 2003 World Cup final – with a broken finger – helped Australia secure victory over India.
Martin retired suddenly during the 2005-06 Ashes series in England following difficulties in the first couple of Tests.

Ex-colleague Darren Lehmann urged Martyn to “keep strong” via social media, as the cricket world began to react well wishes.
